Trance
As much as I love Final Fantasy IX, I must say the Trance system really wasn't the greatest thing Square thought up of. It's slow to fill and once it is filled, you are forced to use it right at that moment, rather then letting the player choose when to execute the command (like in Final Fantasy VII). This was especially annoying when an enemy attacks with its final attack and causes your character to trance -- but the battle's over and the trance is wasted. It meant you have to start all over to fill up that guage. I really don't like the trance system. What does Garnet's trance actually do? As far as I can tell -- nothing. Nothing useful anyway. What happens is that when Garnet's Trance guage fills up, she automatically has the ability to summon an Eidolon, however the Eidolon will attack much weaker than usual. The Eidolon you last summoned will appear when you go into Trance mode. For example, when Garnet went into Trance in my battle against Trance Kuja, the last Eidolon she summoned was Odin so every so often, Odin's giant staff will fly through the air at random moments to hit Kuja. Plus she goes all shiny and dons a new outfit, that's always exciting to watch.
"Whisper" is owned and maintained by Jinny. Final Fantasy IX, Garnet Til Alexandros and any related games/characters belong to Square-Enix. |
