Dress To Impress

Phoenix is interesting in his appearance in the fact that it's not really an interesting appearance. Video game male protagonists usually have something going for them whether it's huge muscles, hot face, outrageous outfit or gravity defying hair. Well, Phoenix does have gravity defying hair ...

Phoenix isn't exactly a "hot guy". He's a pretty normal guy, actually. He is normally seen in his blue suit and red tie, and all in all, he's a very average character. I think that's something that actually made Phoenix appeal to me: his altogether 'normal-ness'. His somewhat bland appearance is made up with his personality, in my opinion, and interesting story.

Oh, but there is the issue with Phoenix's hair! It's not exactly a normal hairstyle, what with the jet black hair slicked back in spikes, but it's a far cry from the RPG hair of characters from other games. So even with his hair, it's pretty normal. Even within his own game, there are other characters with wackier hair than his. I do believe his hair was made the way it is so that his silhouette is noticeable and unique (the famous silhouette of him pointing a finger out and his mouth open to yell 'Objection!')

after years

Phoenix's formal attire is shed when he 'retires' and instead, he opts for some more laid black clothing: a gray sweatshirt, sweatpants, sandals and a toque. Some have affectionately called this version of Phoenix "Hobo Phoenix". Besides being an obvious statement that he is no longer a lawyer, it also represents his new personality. Phoenix is more laid back and chill, and even somewhat mysterious (at least, according to Apollo).

I also can't forget to mention that his toque has the words "Daddy" on it, which is absolutely adorable. Yes, Phoenix is a daddy! (You can read more about him and his daughter in the Poker Player section).
