Rikku

Rikku is a young, high spirited fifteen year old Al Bhed girl. She's outgoing and cute, but definitely does not fall into the dumb blonde category. She works hard every day to try to restore former glory to her Al Bhed people, after they have all been outcasted from the Yevon religion for using machina. She also happens to be Yuna's cousin, although the two would have never met each other if it weren't for Tidus.

Tidus first met Rikku at the Baaj Temple Ruins. Tidus was being attacked by a fiend, and Rikku joined in the battle to help him defeat the monster. Tidus was glad that he found an ally, but he had to rethink that when Rikku knocked him out and dragged him onboard her ship. Not only that, but her crew made him sleep on the deck and forced him to help them search for treasure, or else they'll throw him overboard.

Despite all that, Rikku turned out to be a good friend after all -- the first friend he made in Spira. She offered Tidus food when nobody else would, and talked to him about his Zanarkand. She was skeptical at first, but she half-believed his stories. She even offered to give him some help -- she'll get the crew to drop him off in Luca, a large city. Surely, somebody must know Tidus there, or at least know of the places he spoke of. Tidus was very grateful for her kindness, but unfortunately, Sin attacked the ship and Tidus fell overboard anyway before Rikku could actually be of any assistance.

reunion

The two reunite later on at the Moonflow. Once again, Rikku's actions were questionable (she attacked him again!), but it seemed that she had good intentions in her heart. The two quickly bonded together again, and Tidus did his best to protect Rikku's Al Bhed identity from Wakka, who absolutely loathed the Al Bhed with a passion.

Rikku and Tidus are pretty similar people. She acts like the younger sister Tidus never had, and it wouldn't be too weird for someone to mistake them as siblings. She's loud and outgoing, just like Tidus, and isn't afraid to voice her opinions. They both strongly believe in doing the right thing -- even though the "right thing" was hard to distinguish. Both of them cared about Yuna very much and would do anything to protect her from harm's way -- although Rikku cared about Yuna a lot because they are cousins, while Tidus cared about Yuna because he had feelings for her. Rikku could very well be a female version of Tidus!

Rikku sticks by Tidus no matter what, and Tidus does the same for Rikku. He's used to her strange ideas and even if everyone else doubted her, he defends her. The two are like childish siblings, both with very big hearts.
