WEAPONS CALADBOLG OVERDRIVE VOICE

Overdrive

Overdrives are extra powerful attacks that happen when you fill a certain quota after several battles. An overdrive is essentially the same thing as limit breaks in Final Fantasy VII, trance in Final Fantasy IX, etc. Tidus' overdrive uses swordplay techniques. They are really shiny and look even more awesome in Final Fantasy Dissidia (heh).

To use Tidus' overdrive, press the left directional button when his overdrive gauge is full. After selecting which move to use (your choices are rather limited in the beginning), a small screen will pop up that looks like a bar with a square in the middle, and a very fast moving object going back and forth.

The bar with the moving thing.

When the object passes over the square in the center, press the X button. The sooner you do this, the more powerful his attack will be. If you fail to press the X button when it hovers over the square before the time limit is up (3 seconds), Tidus will still perform his overdrive, but it won't be very powerful.

You can get more overdrive moves too. It varies from character to character as to how you gain more overdrive moves, but for Tidus, all you need to do is continue to use his overdrive over and over again. Once you used a certain number of overdrives, Tidus will automatically learn a new one.

Spiral Cut
This is the first overdrive you start off with. It only hits one target, and is useful if you're only fighting against one enemy.

Slice & Dice
Perform ten overdrives and you can obtain Slice & Dice. This overdrive hits random targets and is useful if you don't really care which enemy you hit -- you just want to hit 'em!

Energy Rain
Perform thirty overdrives and Energy Rain is yours! This is a pretty nifty overdrive since it hits all targets at once.

Blitz Ace
Perform eighty overdrives and you can obtain Blitz Ace. This is the most powerful overdrive; it hits all targets, and more than once!
